Lost International is set to release its new boho-chic Black Sheep line of clothing aimed at young women who want to make a fashion statement.

Irvine-based #madeinoc brand …Lost International has come a long way since founders Matt Biolos shaped surfboards and Mike Reola made t-shirts for their friends during the early 90’s in San Clemente, CA.  Known as one of the leading manufacturers of surf and skate apparel and products across the world, …Lost is now shedding away from the junior image of board shorts and t-shirts to don a more mature vision with its new women’s line Black Sheep.

Like …Lost’s simple premise of not being lost in the flock of mainstream sports, but rather immersed in the surf and skate-driven lifestyle, Black Sheep will not be lost in the flock of contemporary fashions.

Where classic meets current and vintage musters innovation, Black Sheep offers the fashions of the 1960’s and 70’s through the lens of 2012 – aka “boho-chic.”  …Lost’s Head Designer of Women’s Wear Rachel Anne Rainwater says she gets her inspiration from high-end European runways and turns it into everyday wear “for the black sheep in each of us.”

With femininity and “pretty” in and get-out-of-my-way body-con dresses out, Black Sheep’s debut couldn’t have come at a better time.  Inspired by art and nature, the spring/summer collection features laid-back looks of tie-dyed leathers, treated corduroys, and floaty lightweight dresses and tops – all made to fit the female form and be worn with discretion.

According to …Lost Co-Founder and in-house rock star Matt Biolos, Black Sheep’s “influence is different from and outside of surf – it’s for women who are not afraid to stand out and are not following in line with the herd or flock.”  As for the Black Sheep line, it too strives to stand out.  …Lost CEO Joel Cooper wanted the line to separate itself from cheap-chic retailers such as H&M and Forever 21.  Not only does the line feature higher-quality fabrics and meticulously placed details of treatment, lace and buttons, but Black Sheep will only be sold in Orange County, Los Angeles and across the nation in boutiques such as Lulu*s, Dungarees and L.A. Attitude.

Though the year has just begun and the warm weather months away, some of us are already fantasizing what our wardrobe will be throughout 2012.  We had the pleasure of also getting a sneak-peek of Black Sheep’s 2012 Fall Collection, which features a more classic and mod feel with bold color blocking silks and the mixture of hard with soft leathers, knits and crochets.  Imagine Jackie O., but at Woodstock.
